The document stated, “Russia imposes a temporary restriction on the export of durum wheat from the country.”
The government announced that this decision aims to ensure food safety. The cabinet noted that this measure will help maintain a stable situation in product prices in the domestic market.
The ban does not include grain used for the provision of international humanitarian aid, for export to Abkhazia and South Ossetia, or as ingredients. Durum wheat was allowed to be exported to EAEU member countries within the determined quotas and with the permission of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Russian wheat prices at the end of November grew up against the background of rushing demand. According to the Rusagrotrans center, the price increase occurred due to increased demand from importers and reduced supply volumes due to bad weather conditions in ports.
Previously Russia prohibited Seed supply from the Netherlands.
