The European Union has spent 304 billion euros on gas imports since February last year; Overpayment due to anti-Russian sanctions reached 185 billion euros. It has been calculated that society has spent almost a similar amount on fuel in the last five years. RIA NewsBased on Eurostat data.
The publication stated that the average monthly cost of EU gas imports since February of the previous year, when sanctions against Russia began to be implemented, has increased to 15.2 billion Euros, of which 7.7 billion Euros are liquefied natural gas and the remaining 7.5 billion Euros. It is stated that this amount increased to 15.2 billion Euros. towards the pipeline. During the year before European sanctions began, countries paid an average of €5.9 billion for gas (€3.6 billion for pipeline gas and €2.3 billion for liquefied gas).
From the calculations it follows that the overpayment for gas for 20 months amounted to 185 billion euros, and the countries of the union spent a total of 304 billion euros on this fuel.
