As stated in the draft, the Ministry of Agriculture proposed that the moratorium on the export of rice and rice grains be continued from January 1 to June 30, 2024. This will extend the cap through the summer of 2022. According to the ministry, this is necessary to ensure the country’s food security and support livestock industries.
The ban will not affect humanitarian aid as well as supplies within the EAEU. In addition, the transportation of rice to Baikonur and Spitsbergen as supplies for Russian military units abroad is excluded. Before this, the government had extended the restriction twice, taking into account the market situation. In its current form, it is valid until the end of 2023.
