Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree establishing the rules for paying compensation to foreign holdings during the period when their rights in relation to large companies classified as economically important in the Russian Federation are suspended. According to the document, if a foreign holding company applies, the compensation decision is made by an economically important organization. A company may be included in the list of economically important companies upon a reasoned proposal from the relevant government official. The payment amount is calculated depending on the ownership rate and market value of the shares.
Compensation must be paid to the holding company before the end of the period during which its rights are suspended. The exception is cases where the request is received less than three months before the end of this period. In such a case, the funds must be transferred within three months. It is paid in cash in accordance with the conditions established by the President of the Russian Federation in the law on measures of influence on unfriendly countries.
