Rome uses commercial diplomacy as a bargaining chip in its relations with Moscow, so Italian companies are in no hurry to leave the Russian market. Vittorio Torrembini, President of the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in Russia (GIM Unimpresa) spoke about this, according to reports RIA News.
On Friday, November 3, the organization’s president attended the Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona. The event takes place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
“Any dialogue that concerns the discussion of business also concerns politics. “Italians who have been working for a long time and producing in Russia continue to work and feel good despite all the difficulties,” he said.
He also noted Moscow’s very warm attitude towards the Italian side. As GIM Unimpresa President stated, it is noteworthy that in the cooperation between the two countries, all possible tools are used to improve relations.
Torrembini also noted the reluctance of Italian companies to leave the Russian market. There are very few organizations leaving the Russian Federation, and all of them had state status or worked in approved industries.
However, a large number of Italian enterprises in the fields of technology and industry continue to operate in the Russian market. A similar situation is observed in the fields of mechanical engineering and food products.
“Naturally, we also have companies that want to come to Russia. “But they are very careful because our obstacles arising from the banking and financial system are very serious,” he added.
He eventually described commercial diplomacy as Italy’s historical trump card. According to Torrembini, the republic’s authorities should continue to use it internationally.
Former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk named Western restrictions are “sanctions from hell”.
