Russian automakers Sollers and AvtoVAZ appealed to the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to help resolve the situation with the uncontrollable increase in logistics costs when delivering finished cars from factories to dealers. This was reported by RBCby citing its own source in one of the manufacturing companies.

The source noted that there has been a critical situation in the market in the transportation of finished products since the beginning of 2023.

“This is due to the shortage of car transporters and the difficulties in importing such equipment through parallel imports. The lack of equipment drivers also has an impact,” RBC’s interlocutor said.

According to him, this led to a sharp increase in tariffs for this type of transport.

“Tariffs for this type of transport have almost doubled,” said a representative of one of the companies.

Representatives of AvtoVAZ and Sollers confirmed to RBC the existence of these problems. Sollers noted that they started to become more severe starting from the second half of 2023. Therefore, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) decided to impose a special premium on car prices.

AvtoVAZ also talked about a significant increase in prices in the transport services market. In a conversation with RBC, the company reported that various options to offset such costs are currently being evaluated.
