EU discusses new sanctions package worth $5.3 billion against Russia

The European Union is developing the 12th package of restrictive measures against the Russian Federation, targeting imports from the Russian Federation of 2.5 billion euros and the same amount of exports of about 5.3 billion dollars. The publication reports that Bloomberg Citing sources.

As the publication’s sources explain, the EU aims to eliminate the possibility of circumventing sanctions through third countries and deprive the Kremlin of revenue. The new sanctions will affect Russia’s exports of welding equipment, chemicals and high-tech military goods. It is also planned to limit imports of metal, construction materials, vehicles and diamonds.

As the source emphasizes, the EU is trying to close the channels of supply of weapons components to the Russian Federation through third states. Sanctions will be tightened against companies that help circumvent sanctions. Interviewed experts state that the European Union plans to strengthen control over the oil embargo imposed on the Russian Federation in connection with the trade of Russian oil, above the ceiling set at 60 dollars per barrel.

According to sources, the package will expand the EU’s blacklists to more than 100 Russian individuals and about 40 organizations.
