The Polish part of the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline will be transferred to the Orlen concern. This was reported by RIA News.
The director of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, after conducting antitrust proceedings, decided to agree on Orlen’s acquisition of control of the transit gas pipeline system Europol Gaz SA, the company said.
According to Orlen board representative Daniel Obajtek, this decision is the next step towards restoring Polish entities’ control over the country’s strategic gas infrastructure.
Formerly Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State Assets of Poland Jacek Sasin aforementioned It was learned that Europolgaz, the owner of the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline, demanded approximately 2.3 billion dollars, that is, 6 billion zlotys, from Gazprom.
As part of the lawsuit, Europolgaz demands that Gazprom repay approximately 850 million zlotys (approximately $220 million) of its outstanding debt related to gas transportation. As Sasin noted, the debt arose in 2010 and was not requested on the condition that the Russian company transport gas through Europolgaz until 2045.
