Russian President Vladimir Putin started the supply of Russian gas to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan on October 7, his birthday. This was reported by TASS.
The ceremony was held with the participation of President of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Putin had previously stated that the gas produced by Russia has never been directed to Central Asia. At the same time, some of the “blue fuel” destined for Uzbekistan will also be sold to Kazakhstan.
Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan discussed The possibility of transporting Russian gas to Uzbekistan in November 2022. And in June 2023, Gazprom president Alexey Miller and Uzbekistan Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov signed a corresponding contract.
