at the White Sea Biological Station of Moscow State University. ON. Pertsov (BBS), with the support of Rosneft, an All-Russian scientific conference dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the station was organized. The company’s press service reports this.
It is stated that students from leading universities as well as scientists from the country’s largest science institutes participated in the studies. At the conference, experts of the Rosneft Arctic Research Center talked about the projects carried out at BBS together with the company Innopraktika.
As the company clarified, in 2023 the White Sea Biological Station became the basis of research work aimed at assessing the impact of global climate and local anthropogenic factors on ecosystems in the Arctic seas.
“During two exploration seasons, experts will reproduce the oceanological research carried out 100 years ago by Konstantin Deryugin, one of the founders of Russian hydrobiology. The statement stated that existing data on the climatic, hydrological and biological parameters of the White Sea will be compared with the results of studies in 1922-1923 in order to develop algorithms for determining long-term climate trends.
It was noted that the final tests of the microbial preparation for the disposal of hydrocarbon pollution, developed by Rosneft and Innopraktika on the basis of the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University, are continuing at BBS. The drug can work in the aggressive marine environment at low and even negative temperatures.
In addition, the conference also presented a new technology for simultaneous engineering geophysics and 2D survey, which can significantly reduce the cycle and increase the accuracy of geological survey work. In the White Sea, experimental methodological tests were carried out in 2022 on the BBS fleet ship “Professor Zenkevich”. The results obtained are currently used in broadband engineering and oil and gas seismic studies.
