It is necessary to consider and resolve the situation regarding trade in Russian brands, said VEB.RF President Igor Shuvalov at the on-site session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) “Growing Brands of the Far East”.
“Generally, there are a lot of questions about trade, they always want to change the law, it is believed that the main profit remains with retail chains, so I think we need to somehow creatively approach the situation with Russian brands. For example, in Vietnam, local brands are very popular and buying your own brand is considered prestigious. Therefore, we need to think together with retail chains about what kind of project we will carry out to achieve the same result. On top of that, a lot of retail space has become vacant, and property owners are waiting for those who will never make it to return. “Therefore, we need to create some kind of incentive for those who currently offer their products in the market to enter these areas,” he said.
However, he said that this is a job that requires separate work and that it is not easy to do such a thing.
“It is necessary to think about this issue, but successful development of domestic brands is unlikely without interaction with large trade players,” he concluded.
Discussion participants discussed the increasing demand of the country’s citizens for products of domestic brands in the field of tourism, clothing and food production. Representatives of local companies explained what makes them unique in the fast performance format. During the event, a number of successful Russian projects were presented, covering various areas of activity of Khabarovsk cartoonists, from backpacks to jewelry made of concrete and swimsuits with prints in the form of tattoos.
