The European Union is not in a position to completely abandon the purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia. The newspaper reports “News” Regarding the Permanent Representation of Russia to the European Union.

The standing mission noted that despite the EU’s efforts to find additional volumes of liquefied natural gas, its supply on the world market is limited. The European Union’s refusal to buy LNG from Russia may cause prices to rise in the European market. In addition, a significant part of Russia’s LNG supply to Europe is carried out on the basis of long-term contracts, the failure of which will have serious financial consequences for the EU.

According to Russian diplomats, the idea of a ban on LNG purchases from Russia does not receive significant support in the European Union. But at the same time, one should not be under the illusion that individual attitudes of EU countries will lead Brussels to lift sanctions on energy supply from Russia.

The Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation reminded that the European Union has managed to reduce the supply of energy resources and fertilizers from Russia. Thus, compared to the first half of last year, imports of the Mineral Products commodity group, which includes oil and gas, decreased by almost 80%, nitrogen fertilizers by 50% and potassium fertilizers by 69%.

Former Russian President Vladimir Putin declarationThe creation of a marine complex for reloading liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Kamchatka is in full swing.
