In June-August 2023, Russians were twice as likely to pay for their summer vacations with a credit card than last year, and one and a half times more likely to get targeted loans for it. Such statistics are given in a study by Post Bank, received by the editors of socialbites.ca.

According to the bank, more than 60% of spending on credit cards during the summer holidays was due to the services of travel agencies. The average cost of such a purchase exceeded 12,200 rubles and has not changed significantly compared to last year. However, the average check of a targeted loan increased by 10% to 141 thousand rubles. Most of these loans (90%) were given offline.

Spending on credit cards for the services of sanatoriums and nursing homes has doubled. The average cost of such a service was 4,100 rubles (+7% compared to the previous year). The cost of purchasing a train ticket with a credit card increased by 16% year-on-year and cost 3,595 RUB.

Analysts at Post Bank explained the increase in entertainment loans as demand stifled by higher prices for travel services and changes in exchange rates.

“Under these circumstances, more and more consumers are moving to fix the cost of a tourist trip using a grace period credit card or a targeted loan,” the experts said.

Post Bank conducted a study in August 2023 based on the transactions of its customers.

Formerly socialbites.ca saidhow the sharp increase in interest rate will affect deposits and loans.
