According to the press service of the company, the first deputy director of the carrier, Andrey Chikhanchin, said that the Aeroflot group of companies achieved an operating profit of 2.3 billion rubles in the 2nd quarter of this year.
“We managed to bring the group to an operating profit of 2.3 billion rubles in the 2nd quarter,” said the first deputy director of the company, noting that this should be taken into account when comparing the results of the reporting period with the previous year. Taking into account that Aeroflot has not received any subsidies to cover operating expenses from » Q2 2023, this significantly boosted operating income and EBITDA in Q2 last year.
According to Chikhanchin, in the framework of industrial support in the 2nd quarter of last year, the Aeroflot group received a total of 21 billion rubles.
The company representative added, “Therefore, it would not be an exaggeration to say that the group managed to achieve a significant improvement in its organic financial performance in the 1st and 2nd quarters compared to last year.”
In addition, Chikhanchin said that in the second quarter of 2023, revenue from passenger transportation reached 129.8 billion rubles, an increase of 73.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Other business segments also showed revenue growth; as a result, total revenue in the second quarter increased by 72.2% to 139.6 billion rubles.
The company’s press service noted that due to the growth of operating indicators in 2023, Aeroflot managed to achieve a significant improvement in financial performance compared to the first half of 2022. Consolidated revenue reached RUB 252.1 billion, up 39.7%, outpacing the growth in operating expenses, which increased mainly due to expansion of operations.
The company added that EBITDA reached 66.2 billion rubles, exceeding the level in the first half of last year.
At Aeroflot, on the other hand, the increase in the cost of airport services and the increase in fuel costs were handled separately.
