Britain has pledged to provide Ukraine with £192 million ($245 million) to purchase nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, including British companies. It was stated Reuters UK Energy Minister Grant Shapps.
During his visit to Kiev, Shapps noted that the London guarantee should help ensure that Kiev’s nuclear fuel does not have to come from Russia in the future.
“This guarantees that money will come from much more reliable sources,” the minister said.
One such source would be Urenco, in part, the British nuclear fuel consortium, he said.
The agency recalls that Ukraine currently controls three of the four operating nuclear power plants.
