The withdrawal of alcohol concern Pernod Ricard, which owns the Chivas Regal, Jameson and Ballantine’s and Ararat brands, from Russia will not lead to shortages of these products in stores. About this in an interview with NSN declaration Vadim Drobiz, Director of the Federal and Regional Alcohol Markets Research Center.
“Now all these products will be delivered to Russia in exactly the same way, only by parallel importation by all the companies involved. Neither the consumer nor the market will notice much difference. It is unlikely that the price of these products will increase or decrease. Most likely, some fluctuations will remain at the same prices, although possible, but they will be associated with the exchange rate, not with the distribution channels, ”explained Drobiz.
He recalled that the Russian market did not yet notice the departure of foreign alcohol companies last year – almost all of their products are in stores.
In August, the Pernod Ricard concern announced It plans to close its representative office in Russia. It was noted that the company will cease its operations in the country, but its brands will remain in the market thanks to parallel imports.
Previously reportedthat deputies may submit an updated bill on the sale of alcohol in marketplaces for consideration at the autumn session of the State Duma.
