Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has instructed the Ministry of Energy to consider the possibility of issuing licenses for the export of petroleum products. Agency reports interfax citing sources familiar with the situation.
Earlier, departments discussed the option of creating a list of private gasoline exporters to combat the export of “gray” fuel oil abroad. However, the agency clarified that the Ministry of Economic Development advocates granting export licenses and not limiting the number of exporters.
The Department of Energy is concerned that licensing will make it harder for many exporters to control their activities. At the same time, the list of selected companies will completely eliminate “gray” exports.
Still, Novak supported the idea of the Ministry of Economic Development and instructed the energy department to develop the licensing option. The Department of Energy noted that an interdepartmental discussion is currently ongoing on this issue.
