Egypt signs a contract to buy hundreds of thousands of tons of Russian wheat

according to the newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm, Egyptian Food Procurement Authority (GASC) signed a contract for the purchase of 235,000 tons of Russian wheat. The delivery will be made in two batches: the first batch of 175 thousand tons will be delivered between September 15-30, and the second batch of 60 thousand tons will be delivered between October 1-15.

The Russian Federation’s Embassy in Cairo said in June that the volume of wheat supplies from Russia to Egypt has exceeded eight million tons since the beginning of July 2022.

For the first time since Russia cut off the grain deal on 3 August Sold Wheat prices are rising. Egyptian state basic goods importer GASC purchased 300,000 tons of wheat from Moscow at $250 per tonne, as well as $14 freight from Kavkaz port, in a tender held on August 2nd. Traders Grain Flower and Aston sold two batches of grain of 60,000 tons each, Olam sold another batch of the same volume. The grain will be delivered to Cairo on September 1-10, 2023.

Last ship previously covered by grain agreement left Black Sea.
