Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The world expects a “food war” due to problems with Ukrainian grain exports

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said the world is in a “food war” if it is no longer possible to export grain from Ukraine. He said this in an interview he gave to the newspaper. La Stampa.

According to him, the shortage of wheat and grain can only be overcome by creating a protected corridor that will allow Ukrainian grain to be transported by sea.

The Italian diplomat said, “It is very difficult by land… Otherwise, we will face a food war with incalculable consequences, not a simple food crisis.”

The share of Russian and Ukrainian cereals (wheat and barley) in the world market was up to 30%, corn – up to 20%, sunflower oil – almost 75%.
