The First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus, Aleksey Lyakhnovich, said that the Russian Federation provides discounts on rail transport to Minsk. He talked about it in the broadcast of the TV channel “Belarus-1”.
According to him, tariffs for transport by rail occupy a large place in the logistics of transferring Belarusian export cargo through Russia – about 60%.
Emphasizing that the cost of the transfer at the port also affects, the Minister emphasized that Minsk is trying to transport it to where it is cheaper. According to him, there is a joint commission with Russia that deals with issues related to railway tariffs.
“This year, depending on the direction, we got a discount of between 10% and 40%,” Lyakhnovich said.
He added that Minsk received a discount for “the largest discount for certain types of cargo for the major St. Petersburg port, and for the North-South land route to the ports of Astrakhan and the Caspian Sea.”
