The Australian government imposes new sanctions on 35 Russian organizations and 10 citizens from Russia and Belarus. This was expressed by Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong. TASS.
The minister noted that the sanctions apply to “35 enterprises in the defense, technology and energy sectors, as well as 10 citizens of Russia and Belarus”. Wong noted that this decision was taken in close cooperation with international partners and aimed at maximum pressure on those who both directly and indirectly support the “Russian invasion of Ukraine”. He also noted that the sanctions affect enterprises of great economic and strategic importance for Russia.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the list of new sanctions includes companies that supply advanced technologies, electronics and equipment for the Russian armed forces, as well as organizations involved in the extraction of nuclear energy and Arctic resources. In addition, financial restrictions were imposed on the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Belousov, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, the Russian Federation Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova, the First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Andrei Turchak, the Director General of the Kalashnikov Concern Vladimir Lepin and the holding General Director of Russian Helicopters Nikolai Kolesov.
Since March 2014, the Australian government has already announced more than 25 anti-Russian restrictions. More than 1.1 thousand citizens and more than 300 enterprises of the Russian Federation are on the Canberra sanctions list. Trade relations with Russia were completely stopped, the assets of blacklisted persons were frozen, and national organizations were prohibited from cooperating with sanctioned companies.
