Europe could be the leader in buying LNG from Russia

Despite the sanctions, European countries will buy the most liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia until the end of 2023. This is said Ivan Timonin, consultant of the company “Vygon Consulting”, RIA Novosti.

“Despite the sanctions agenda, the largest increase in Russian LNG demand in 2023 will be in the European region,” Timonin said.

According to him, significant growth is expected from Belgium. Thus, deliveries could increase from 4.2 million tons in 2022 to 7.3 million tons by the end of this year. Growth in Spain will be 1.3 million tons and will rise to 4.9 million tons. Turkey is expected to increase from 0.2 million to 1 million tons.

He added that in the first half of 2023, compared to the same period last year, LNG supply from Russia decreased from 17 million tons to 15 million tons.
