“Moscows bought the largest number of securities (57% of total sales), followed by the Moscow region (9.8%) and St. Petersburg (5.6%) residents. “Investors from the Tyumen, Tver, Sverdlovsk, Tula and Nizhny Novgorod regions also showed interest in the bonds,” said Elena Zyabbarova, Minister of the Moscow Government and Head of the Finance Department. He stressed that high bond selling rates confirm confidence in Moscow as a reliable issuer.

According to the official, a simple and profitable financial instrument has been created that attracts a wide range of investors, including those who have no previous experience in this field. Zyabbarova pointed out that this is an additional guaranteed source of income for residents and an incentive for the capital to develop a green economy and improve the urban environment.

Funds from issuing green bonds for the population are directed towards the city’s environmental project to replace diesel buses with electric buses. Replacing a last-generation bus with an electric bus reduces pollutant emissions by 172-233 kg per year and greenhouse gas emissions by 49.4 tonnes per year.
