Türkiye realized a total of 325.2 thousand exports in the first half of this year. Tons of tomatoes were supplied for $326 million, and 287.1 thousand tons of tomatoes were supplied for $247.6 million in the same period of last year.
This year, Turkish tomatoes were sent to 48 countries. Romania became the leading importer. Turkey shipped 60.8 million dollars worth of tomatoes Ukraine, Poland and Germany were among the top 5 countries importing tomatoes from Ankara. They delivered vegetables worth $51.3 million, $38.6 million and $35.3 million, respectively.
The Russian Ministry of Agriculture has developed a draft instruction to increase the supply quota of Turkish tomatoes by 150,000 tons, and as a result, the quota will increase to 500,000 tons.
Russia began limiting its supply of tomatoes from Turkey after an incident in the skies of Syria in the fall of 2015. The ban on fruit and vegetable imports from Ankara from January 1, 2016 to November 1, 2017 in Moscow was lifted as a result of long negotiations. The quota, which was 50 thousand tons at first, increased gradually and reached 320 thousand tons in April 2022.
