Belarus plans to ban cryptocurrency exchanges between individuals

The Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MFA) is developing the possibility of amending the law to prohibit the exchange of cryptocurrencies between individuals. In this respect reported on the department’s Telegram channel.

“Such services are in demand among scammers who cash out and convert funds stolen in this way, transfer money to organizers or participants in criminal schemes. To exclude such facts, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working on legislative innovations that prohibit transactions of cryptocurrency exchanges between individuals. ”

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, for greater transparency and control, such transactions will be allowed only through the High-Tech Park exchanges.

The message stated that since the beginning of 2023 alone, the actions of 27 individuals providing illegal services for cryptocurrency exchange have been suppressed. Their total illegal revenues amounted to 22 million Belarusian rubles (641.3 million rubles).
