The price of gas in Europe fell by half in the first six months of 2023, to about $425 per thousand cubic metres. In this respect informs TASS refers to its calculations and data from the London ICE exchange.

The average gas price in Europe in December 2022 was about $1,272 per 1,000 cubic metres. m, but gradually fell over six months: in January – to $712 (down 21% year-on-year), in February – to $583 (-41%), in March to – $488 (%) -60), in April – up to $477 (-55%), in May – up to $357 (-65%) and in June – up to $366 (-70.5%).

The publication reported that gas prices have fallen due to record fuel revenues and a mild winter, as well as high filling of storage facilities. In addition, European Union (EU) countries were able to quickly take the necessary measures to reduce fuel consumption.

According to Gazprom, there is no guarantee that nature will give the gift it gave last winter as well next winter. Also, filling underground storage facilities in Europe may be difficult this year as Russian fuel is withdrawn for political reasons.
