The Russian government has developed a bill in which tour operators will have the opportunity not to pay value added tax (VAT) for the next 4.5 years – until 2027. In this case, the start date of such a measure is considered to be January 1 of the current year, reported On the cabinet website.
According to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, until recently VAT was about one-fifth of the final cost of tours in Russia. Thanks to the innovation, it will be possible to significantly reduce prices for domestic tourism and trips around the country. At the same time, hotels, campsites, tourist camps and other accommodation facilities for citizens are already exempt from VAT.
“On behalf of the head of state, a bill has been developed that abolishes the payment of value-added tax by tour operators when selling tours in Russia. That’s almost a fifth of their price. And such a norm will be in force for four and a half years from January 1 of this year, ”the statement said.
