Sazanov cited the budget deficit and “opportunistic surplus profits of companies” as reasons for imposing a tax on excess profits.
The State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes supported the 3= bill, which provides a one-time contribution to the budget from the surplus profits of large companies. The tax will apply to large companies whose average pre-tax profit for 2021-2022 exceeds one billion rubles. The tax rate will be 10% of the extra profit for 2021-2022.
