US says it is not opposed to India buying oil from Russia while maintaining a “ceiling price”

John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator for the National Security Council, said the United States was not opposed to India buying oil from Russia, but hoped the country would continue to benefit from the “price ceiling” accepted by the West.

“Hopefully we’ll continue to see them buying Russian oil either above or below the ceiling as they have done so far.” DEA News.

Kirby also stressed that India should make its own decisions about oil purchases.

The United States and its allies have agreed on a maximum price of $60 per barrel for the delivery of Russian oil by sea.

Vinod Kumar, former CEO of Indian Oil saidThe share of oil from the Russian Federation has increased by 10 times this year compared to the figures of the previous two years, taking a 20% share of the Indian oil import market. According to him, by 2024, the share of Russian raw materials in the total volume of Indian oil imports will increase by 10%, accounting for almost a third (30%) of all foreign supply.
