The official response of the Ministry of Transport of Russia to the request of Andrei Kutepov, chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of the Federation Council, reported that the construction of the icebreaker Icebreaker-7 was delayed for four years due to sanctions. TASS.
“Icebreaker with 18 MW ice class Icebreaker-7 capacity for ports of the North-West (Baltic) basin: completion date (under contract) 12/10/2024, scheduled completion date of work 2028,” the message states.
It was noted that the icebreaker will have to work for its ports in the North-West Basin, particularly the Baltic Sea. The total cost of the project is 10.5 billion rubles, but at the moment the readiness rate is estimated at 1.38%: the foundation has been laid.
Formerly at Rosatom said about plans to create new Russian nuclear icebreakers.
The fifth and sixth Russian nuclear icebreakers of project 22220 will be built in St. It is planned to be laid at the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg.
