The American clothing and footwear manufacturer VF Corporation (brands like Vans, The North Face, etc.) has decided to close its stores in Russia, the local division will deal with wholesale deliveries. In this respect writer newspaper “Kommersant”.
The publication says that this decision of the company is indicated in the statements of the Russian structure of the company – VF CIA, LLC. The last Vans outlets in Russia closed this spring, according to the report. VF did not comment on CIA decisions.
VF Corporation decided to develop a network of retail stores under the Vans brand in Russia in 2020. At the end of last year, Moscow and St. Petersburg had 12 Vans stores. Vans began to restrict their activities in Russia after the start of special operations.
Anna Lebsak-Kleymans, CEO of Fashion Consulting Group, described the reorientation of VF Corporation’s business in Russia to wholesale-only sales as a compromise. In this way, she believes that the company’s brands will be able to maintain their popularity.
According to Nikolliers, at the end of 2022, international retail conglomerates with 23 brands finally curtailed their activities in Russia, and 25 international chains with 27 brands remained in “stall” mode. Their shops are closed. Another 22 companies that manage 31 brands have sold their Russian business.
