The Central Bank of Ukraine allowed the country’s credit institutions to block or close the accounts of residents and legal entities, since it refused to disclose the presence or absence of economic ties with the Russian Federation. This Ukrainian edition was reported by “Strana.ua”.

“If they … refuse to provide information or answer questions, the bank will have to block or even forcibly close their account transactions,” the message reads.

It was noted that in March, the Central Bank of Ukraine instructed banks to check their customers, as well as their partners and counterparties, whether they have ties with Russia. If they are refused, the credit institution has the right to temporarily suspend the client’s financial transactions or block his account.

Previously it was known that the National Bank of Ukraine. compulsory all commercial banks report payments made by the population using cards, the amounts spent will not play a role. This change is effective from Monday, June 5th.

Prior to that, the Swiss bank UBS sent Letters to Russian customers demanding to provide documents confirming their location and warning of possible blocking of their accounts.
