The St. Petersburg Parliament supported the bill on the holiday tax on tourists at the first reading. It can start operating from April 1, 2024 and will cost 100 rubles per day. interfax.
42 deputies voted for the introduction of this fee, three abstained and one objected.
According to the document, city-wide trials will begin from October 1, 2023, but the rate will be zero for six months and will only be operational from April 1 next year.
The tourist will have to pay at check-in for the actual number of days of stay at the hotel, excluding the day of arrival. The amount will not be automatically included in the cost of living. However, if the visitor refuses to pay, the hotel will have to notify the city authorities within two days.
Petersburg Governor’s representative in the Legislative Assembly, Konstantin Sukhenko, said that the number of accommodation facilities in the city reached 1205. He emphasized that the estimated amount of budget revenue from the resort fee could be 310 million rubles in the unfinished 2024.
Income St. Petersburg Resort Infrastructure Development Fund. All facilities that provide services for temporary accommodation of tourists will be subject to the terms of the resort fee collection. Children, full-time students, veterans, sporting event participants and others may be exempted from this payment.
