“According to the Montreux Convention, the base value of the gold franc is determined as US$ 4.42 in the taxes and fees (lighthouse, demolition and sanitary inspection) coefficients applied to the ships passing through the Turkish Straits without a call. Referring to the decision of the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the newspaper wrote that as of July 1, 2023, there has been an increase of 8.3 percent for the net tonnage of the merchant ship.
In the article, it is stated that the income that Turkey will get from the ships passing through the straits will reach 900 million dollars in 2023.
