New approaches to the regulation of the development of small and medium-sized enterprises included in the strategy for SMEs by 2030 will allow the state to provide assistance as well as new support measures to the owners of their own small businesses. To the companies that fall into the category called “growing” and “SME Plus” from the SME sector and lost all of their interests and preferences all of a sudden. Andrey Shubin, executive director of the all-Russian public enterprise “Opora Rossii” of small and medium-sized enterprises, told socialbites.ca.

Commenting on the meeting of the government commission on the development of small and medium enterprises in Moscow, the expert agreed that “adult” companies should not go outside the circle of state support.

“Perhaps separate instruments will be developed for them, especially financial ones: preferential loans and guarantees. “The implementation of these support measures will have a significant impact on the economy.”

He also noted that the Ministry of Economic Development has set other priorities.

“Maxim Reshetnikov, head of the Ministry of Economic Development, rightly stated that according to statistics, half of start-up entrepreneurs close in the first two years. People in this category will be given access to specific financial support measures,” said Andrey Shubin.

Also, state attention will be drawn to growing SMEs, which, according to the expert, often cannot cope with the increase in tax burden, more complex accounting reports and more severe audits by controlling and supervisory authorities.

Another important thesis, according to Shubin, is support for businesses from priority sectors such as processing, tourism, IT and others.

Opora Rossii’s executive director notes that during the operation of the national SME project, approaches and development tools to support small businesses have been improved. This allowed the quantitative growth of the SME sector.

“The task of the next phase until 2030, announced by the Minister of Economic Development, is to use the accumulated experience to achieve the qualitative growth of SMEs through the acceleration of existing enterprises. So much so that there are effective companies that contribute to the economy as much as possible in the structure of SMEs.”

On May 29, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin held a meeting with the government commission on the development of small and medium-sized enterprises to discuss a strategy for further business support. A new grant support program for SMEs carrying out socially important activities in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions was discussed.
