Consumer loan issuance in Russia returns to pre-crisis levels

In the January-April 2023 period, banks gave 11.2 million consumer loans to the Russians, which is 99.5% more than in the same period last year. According to the Bureau, the volume of loans granted amounted to 2.2 trillion rubles. It has increased by 86% compared to a year ago. The average consumer loan amount increased by 38.1% compared to April 2022 and amounted to 204.6 thousand rubles. At the same time, the average maturity of consumer loans decreased by 5.9% compared to the previous year and decreased to 27 months.

“In the absence of significant external shocks, we can assume a possible increase in the volume indicators of consumer loans issued at the end of the summer, early autumn of this year,” said Oleg Lagutkin, managing director of the Rating Bureau. .

The bureau noted that the volume of consumer loans in default with a 90-day delay has now reached an acceptable level.
