According to the results of the first quarter of 2023, the number of people in default in Russia increased by 25% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 14.4 million people. According to the January-March results of this year, the number of enforcement proceedings for the collection of receivables from individuals in favor of banks increased by 25% compared to the first quarter of 2022 and reached 14.4 million. For comparison: the number of such cases in the first three months of 2020 was 7.6 million.
The publication noted that the total amount of debt is almost 2 trillion rubles. At the same time, Bashkortostan became the leading region in terms of the number of non-payers. The Krasnodar Territory is in second place, and the Krasnoyarsk Territory closes the top three.
According to the FSSP, Russians find it difficult to pay their debts due to low solvency and high debt burden. The situation is also affected by the lack of collateral for the loans granted. Market experts added that the number of enforcement proceedings has increased due to the increasing share of judicial practice and the difficult economic situation in the country in recent years.
