At the end of 2022, the number of press pavilions in Russia decreased by 7.3% and the decline continued in the first quarter of 2023. In this respect writer “Kommersant” in reference to data from the Association of Printing Industry Enterprises (SPPI GIPP).
The number of kiosks and press pavilions in Russia continues to decline: in 2022 their number has fallen by 7.3%, or more than 1,000 objects. At the same time, the situation worsened in the first quarter of 2023. In Astrakhan, for example, they got rid of all the press pavilions.
The publication noted that at the beginning of the year there were a little more than 13.2 thousand retail outlets selling printed products in Russia. At the same time, in some regions, new facilities were opened against the background of large discounts. So most of the new kiosks appeared in the Moscow region, where 121 objects were opened. In second place is the Kaliningrad region (+113). The Udmurt Republic closes the top three in terms of the growth of press kiosks, in which 84 objects are opened.
A source in the industry noted that the decrease in the number of press kiosks was due to the administration’s refusal to renew leases and the increase in rental prices. At the same time, the situation can be somewhat corrected by expanding the range of products sold in the pavilions. For example, you can start selling tobacco products or food to win back customers.
January 19 Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov Recommended Work will be organized to open kiosks for the goods of domestic producers at shopping malls and store entrances.
