Broadcast entities can be recognized as objects of critical information infrastructure

The Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media is preparing a document in which television broadcasting topics are considered objects of critical information infrastructure (CII). In this respect Wrote TASS agency referred to the message of Deputy Minister Bella Cherkessova.

“It is also currently being prepared,” said Cherkessova, answering the discussion moderator’s question about classifying television broadcast topics as CII objects at the VII annual “TeleMultiMedia Forum 2023. Leaders of the Digital Media Space” plenary.

As Cherkessova noted, the ministry establishes requirements in this regard.

In the second half of March 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin, signed Law on the technological independence of Russia. The law implies a ban on the acquisition of foreign software (SW) for the objects of Russia’s critical information structure.

In addition, the document prohibits state authorities from using foreign software on such facilities without the authorization of the competent executive body, effective January 1, 2025.

State Duma at the end of January accepted a draft law on the classification of owners of information systems in the field of state registration of real estate as subjects of critical information infrastructure (CII) at first reading.
