Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, said he was ready to discuss daily with President Joe Biden the issue of raising the national debt ceiling to avoid default in the country. McCarthy told reporters at a press conference after meeting with Biden, TASS.
The speaker stressed that he and Biden need to talk to each other every day to resolve the public debt issue. McCarthy noted that if they can’t even meet face to face, they will definitely discuss the national debt over the phone.
Commenting on the recent meeting with Biden, McCarthy said they both wanted to reach an agreement. And although there are disagreements between them, they are honest with each other in their desire to find common ground.
Earlier, after meeting with Biden, McCarthy said: Of course in the success of debt ceiling negotiations.
According to the speaker, he believes that a breakthrough will be made in the negotiations and an agreement will be reached.
After meeting with Biden, the politician emphasized that there were “philosophical” differences, but in general the meeting was productive.
