State Duma deputy, head of the Sober Russia project, Sultan Khamzaev, addressed the head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, with a proposal to ban alcohol stores from having websites and mobile applications used to increase sales, transmits RT with a link to the corresponding letter. He noted that in these resources, information can be obtained about the features of a particular product, as well as customer reviews, which themselves serve as an advertisement.

“In this context, I ask you to support my position on the introduction of a ban on the use of websites and mobile applications by specialized commercial establishments for the retail sale of alcoholic beverages. I propose to support and participate in the elaboration of the legislative initiative,” reads the text of the appeal.

He added that the requirement to verify the age of 18+ in these sources is formal because anyone “not young” can “confirm” the age of majority and recognize the range of alcoholic products.
