The US oil company Exxon Mobil said it is unlikely to reach zero carbon by 2050. In this respect informs Bloomberg cited the statement from the organization.

“The reason why it would be nearly impossible for the world to reach zero carbon dioxide emissions would be the drop in people’s living standards in such a scenario,” the company said.

The oil company added that the International Energy Agency’s plan to phase out fossil fuels by 2050 is completely unrealistic. The thing is, the world continues to consume fuel and is not following the reduction scenario.

At the end of April, Kommersant wrote that the Council of the European Union (EU) had passed several laws as part of the Fit for 55 in 2030 climate program. This program achieves a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. To implement the plan and achieve greater carbon neutrality, the EU plans to reduce the sale of CO2 certificates for products imported into the EU.

Prior to that, RBC citing experts from the VEB Institute Center for Sustainable Development WroteRussia needs at least 46.9 trillion rubles. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions of 0.73% of GDP each year by mid-century under sanctions.
