The Russian branch of the environmental organization Greenpeace announced that it was closed in connection with the decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office to recognize the international organization Greenpeace International (an organization considered undesirable in the Russian Federation) as an organization that is undesirable in the Russian Federation. “This decision makes it illegal for any Greenpeace activity to continue in Russia,” the statement said.
The press service emphasized that they categorically disagreed with this decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office, suggesting that the liquidation of an environmental organization in Russia is a ridiculous and irresponsible step that has nothing to do with protecting the interests of the country.
“With our work we have tried to prevent the implementation of destructive plans for nature, and in most cases we have successfully accomplished this,” says the publication.
