The vice president, Maxim Oreshkin, said that the poverty rate and level of social inequality in Russia will continue to fall. In this respect informs TASS. Oreshkin expressed this opinion at the college of the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation.
“Russia is one of the few countries in the world that has had a steady downward trend in inequality over the past few years. Yes, inequality is still high. “The steps taken now will consistently lead to a reduction in not only poverty but also inequality,” he said.
Oreshkin noted that the poverty rate in Russia fell below 10 percent and reached 9.8 percent. The vice presidency also said that the level of social inequality has decreased. He described it as a “landmark” event.
An estimate of 9.8% of the country’s poor had previously been given by analysts from the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), RBC reported. At the same time, the previous estimate of the division was 10.5%. As stated in the publication, the decline in this indicator was experienced for the first time in history. At the same time, some regions did not achieve acceptable performance. Tatyana Golikova, Deputy Prime Minister at the college of the Ministry of Labor reportedthat poverty rate increased in four regions last year and poverty reduction targets were not met in the other nine regions.
