The Black Sea Grain Agreement does not yet have “pleasant prospects” to extend its validity. It was reported by RIA Novosti, citing sources familiar with the negotiations.

The interlocutor of the agency emphasized that the discussions on the outcome of the product agreement, which was announced by Stephane Dujarric, the official representative of the UN Secretary-General, will be technical delegation meetings. The source noted that such negotiations have been ongoing since the beginning of the grain deal.

Answering the agency’s question about the possibilities of extending the grain deal, the source said there was “not an encouraging prospect at this time”. He stressed that it is difficult to say. How will things unfold tomorrow? According to him, it is possible to make progress in the negotiations, but there is no progress today.

At the same time, the agency’s interlocutor noted that all participants in the negotiations wanted the grain agreement to continue to work further.

Earlier, it was reported that the representative of the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, said that the contacts with the parties of the grain agreement will continue until 18 May at the technical level for the extension of the agreement.
