In Uzbekistan, electricity shortage can be 3.4 billion kWh in summer and daily demand will increase significantly on hot days. This was expressed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev after the meeting, transmits Sputnik.

“This year the power outage will be 3.4 billion kWh. At the same time, in the hot days of 2023 summer, the daily demand may increase from 195 million kWh to 255 million kWh.

According to him, this situation is already well known, so a number of measures were taken. For example, in 2023, solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 2,000 MW will be commissioned in the country and solar panels with a capacity of 1.2 thousand MW will be installed. It will be found on the roofs of houses, as well as in businesses and social facilities.

He added that special “Green Energy” certificates will be introduced to encourage the use of alternative energy sources.
