The European Commission (EC) believes that the European Union (EU) should be able to restrict exports of goods to third countries as part of the fight to circumvent sanctions against Russia. It has been reported DPA.
According to the agency, the EC submitted a proposal for the eleventh sanctions package on 5 May. According to the initiative, firstly, the possibility of restricting supplies from the European Union to third countries will be created “as a deterrent”.
It was noted that if the measures taken so far are not sufficient, Brussels may prevent the export of some products at the next stage. It was clarified that among such goods there can be those that can be used for both civilian and military purposes.
According to the DPA, representatives of the 27 EU member states will discuss the European Commission’s proposal with EC president Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday (May 10th). A new sanctions package is expected to be adopted in May.
Previously, Bloomberg cited EU officials that the US and its allies chef The eleventh anti-Russian sanctions package aimed at loopholes that help circumvent currently imposed restrictions. In addition, it was noted that it is planned to restrict the passage of many goods from the territory of Russia and to control the ships that turn off the transponders.
