Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, called for unreasonable compensation payments to Polish farmers in connection with the flow of grain to Ukraine approved by the European Commission. It has been reported TASS.

He stressed that Poland’s decision to block the export of Ukrainian agricultural products caused a loss of 143 million dollars to Kiev; this is more than the European Commission would pay Polish farmers in compensation.

The minister believes they will get this money for nothing because “it was a real bluff for the Polish farmers and unfortunately the Polish government reacted in a very strange way.”

Kachka noted that Poland’s political decision has done great harm to both the European Union and Ukraine.

Formerly European Commission (EC) prohibited The export of grain from Ukraine to five Eastern European countries allows transit and export of this agricultural product to other EU countries.

On April 28, the Swedish Presidency of the European Council announced that EU ambassadors have voted to extend duty-free imports of goods from Ukraine to the EU, including agricultural products, for one year.
