Food prices in Estonia rose sharply in April 2023. Vegetables, sugar, meat and dairy products increased the most. In this respect informs The ERR refers to data from the Institute of Economic Studies.

Compared to April 2022, in April 2023 the price of many products increased by tens of percent at the same time. At the same time, there are products that have increased in price by 30-40% or even more. In particular, sugar was 109% more expensive than in April last year. The price of wheat flour and bread increased by 52%.

The publication noted that chickens increased the most in the meat category, where import prices increased by 48% and local prices by 37%. The price of beef rose 41%.

Among dairy products, the price of sachets of milk increased the most by 44%. The price of kefir rose by almost a third (32%), and the price of sour cream increased by 41%. Egg prices rose by almost a third on average, but onion prices rose sharply by 168%.
