Reuters: Turkish state bank “Ziraat” will not join grain deal without US and UN approval

A senior Turkish official said: ReutersZiraat Bank will not be involved in processing payments for grain exports from Russia without the written consent of the USA and the United Nations.

“As in the case of JP Morgan, Ziraat Bank will mediate the transaction with the written approval and instruction of the USA and the UN. This will not be implemented without written approval,” said the agency’s source (quote. TASS).

The grain deal expires on May 18. On May 5, a meeting will be held in Istanbul between the representatives of the delegations of Turkey, Russia and Ukraine, where the possibility of expanding the Black Sea initiative will be discussed.

3 May Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu declarationthat the problem of extending the grain agreement is related to non-compliance with Russia’s requirements. According to him, this concerns, among other things, the reconnection of Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT system and the guarantees of banks to pay for food.

Ziraat Bank is a state bank established in 1863 in Turkey. It offers businesses and merchants support for commercial loans as well as personal loans – consumer loans, auto loans and home loans.
